Description

Acoustic Revive MC-1

The main feature is undoubtedly the newly developed coil using PC-TripleC/EX.

The extremely thin diameter of 0.04 mm could not be manufactured in Japan and was therefore produced in Germany.

Thanks to this very high-conductivity coil, the internal impedance is only 2 ohms, while the output voltage reaches a very manageable level of 0.24 mV.

It is also an appreciated choice to use samarium-cobalt instead of neodymium.

Another aspect that has been carefully refined is that the terminal pins also feature significantly improved conductivity.

Most cartridges use brass or phosphor bronze pins, but here a newly developed silver/copper alloy has been adopted.

While the conductivity of brass or phosphor bronze is generally around 25–43%, this alloy achieves a conductivity of 98%.

It is likely that technologies previously developed for headshells have also been utilized here.

For the generator system, the newly developed VX system has been adopted, with reference also to ZYX.

The VX series is a technology that ZYX has only recently begun to implement: during playback, eddy currents are generated in proportion to the strength of the signal produced by the coil, creating an inverse magnetic field on the surface of both yokes. This technology allows these currents to be instantly eliminated at their point of origin.

As a result, perfectly balanced left and right channels are achieved, along with a very wide frequency range and dynamic range.

The cantilever does not simply use diamond, but instead employs composite carbon, minimizing the influence of the cantilever’s own tonal character.

Furthermore, the body is not made of metal, but of acrylic resin containing mineral powder, a design choice intended to avoid any unwanted sonic coloration.

This is not only about body resonance: if the generator system were to produce eddy currents, the benefits of the VX system would be canceled out.

By impregnating the body with natural minerals that carry a negative potential, it also helps to reduce the generation of static electricity.

The body weight is 10.2 g, a fairly manageable value, likely made possible by the use of the resin body.

It is also worth noting that a dedicated, easy-to-use stylus guard is included.

To be honest, ZYX stylus guards were convenient for storage, but somewhat inconvenient for everyday use.

The weight of the stylus guard is 5.4 g.

The recommended tracking force is the standard 2.0 g (1.7–2.5 g), and the stylus profile is Micro Ridge.
