Merason DAC1 Mk II

Input Signal Processing:
The DAC1 Mk II features one USB, one RCA, one Toslink, and one AES input. The USB input is based on Amanero technology and ensures a low-jitter music signal thanks to two precision oscillators, which is then galvanically isolated using capacitive isolator components. Signals from the other inputs are also galvanically isolated and de-jittered through transformers and capacitors. This guarantees that no external interference can affect the sensitive audio signal.

Digital-to-Analog Conversion:
The digital-to-analog conversion is handled by two Burr Brown 1794A DAC modules. To achieve a 5 dB improvement in dynamic range, each channel uses its own dedicated DAC. The analog current signal is converted into a voltage signal through a discrete circuit, buffered in Class A, and sent to the output. The DAC1 Mk II is fully balanced, with four independent signal paths implemented from the DACs to the outputs.

Power Supply:
Each functional section of the device has its own dedicated power supply, for a total of twelve separate power supplies. Each pair of output channels is powered by an independent linear supply with an oversized transformer.

Construction:
The sonic impact of components, circuit variations, and layouts was thoroughly evaluated through numerous listening sessions by experienced listeners. This applies especially to capacitors, voltage regulators, DAC chips, transistors, resistors, signal processing circuits, I/V converters, and output stages.

Made in Switzerland:
The manufacturing of the chassis, front panel, control knobs, screen printing, component placement, assembly, testing, and final inspection is carried out exclusively in Switzerland.
