Acoustic Revive QSB-3810 Pure Quartz Insulator (Set of 4)
Acoustic Revive QSB-3810 Pure Quartz Insulator (Set of 4)
Spikes are used because point contact support can improve perceived focus and speed by reducing unwanted contact surface. The practical issue is that many users avoid placing spikes directly on floors or shelves due to the risk of damage. Traditional spike cups solve the protection problem, but often at the expense of sound quality, as the cup material can introduce its own tonal character or coloration.
The QSB-3810 is Acoustic Revive’s solution: a spike receiver made from solid natural quartz, designed to act as a protective interface while improving sound quality rather than degrading it. Acoustic Revive states that natural quartz resonates far beyond the audible range, meaning it does not impart any intrinsic “material sound,” allowing the system to remain natural, lively, and rich in texture while enhancing perceived performance.
Why natural quartz for a spike base plate
Quartz is chosen for its mechanical properties and high hardness. Acoustic Revive considers it a material that avoids the typical sonic “signature” of spike receivers, helping preserve the original character of speakers and equipment while improving clarity and definition. In systems where metal cups introduce ringing, thickness, or tonal shifts, quartz can be a more neutral alternative.
Designed for real-world use: surface protection and stable point support
The QSB-3810 is not just a flat disc. It includes a spike pocket (receiver) that keeps the spike stable: approximately 3 mm deep and 18 mm in diameter. This makes placement easier and reduces the risk of slippage, while maintaining true point-contact behavior.
Where it works best
The QSB-3810 can be used under:
Loudspeakers with spikes (especially on delicate floors or racks)
Audio racks and stands with spiked feet
Power distributors and heavy components fitted with spikes (where applicable)
Being made from solid quartz, it is particularly suited for high-resolution systems where even small resonance changes are audible.
Natural crystal characteristics and handling notes
Acoustic Revive notes that natural quartz may contain inclusions or micro-fractures, which are considered evidence of its natural origin. Although very hard, quartz is vulnerable to sharp, concentrated impact forces. Care should therefore be taken not to apply excessive force when placing spikes and not to drop the pieces from height.
