The Bluetooth protocol has constantly evolved since its development over twenty years ago, and with its current version 5.0, it has truly come of age. The improvements over the previous version are impressive: double the transmission speed, four times the range, and eight times the data throughput.

However, the Bluetooth version alone is only “half the story,” since support for proper Bluetooth codecs is also crucial to ensure high-quality audio transmission. This is no issue for the FiiO K9 Pro, which supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD, and LDAC. This makes it both up-to-date and backwards compatible with virtually every Bluetooth device on the market.

Today, Bluetooth offers excellent sound quality and is therefore fully supported, but on the input side, FiiO still prefers the "traditional routes."
