Proprietary Driver: A Technological Powerhouse
106 mm planar driver
“When I listen to a large 15-inch speaker, I can feel its immense energy reserves, the ease with which it reproduces sound, and the low-frequency energy that pushes air — it creates a true sense of presence. We've transferred that experience to headphones with a newly developed full-size 106 mm planar driver. Several patented acoustic technologies have been employed to enhance the ultra-low frequency response of planar headphones.”
— Joseph, Chief Engineer of the FiiO IEM R&D Center
Gold & Silver: A Synergistic Combination
Multi-layer Coating
The driver features FiiO’s proprietary technology with a multi-layer coating of 24K gold and pure silver on a PET substrate.
Gold, being dense and highly ductile, improves damping and provides smoother mids and lows.
Silver, an excellent conductor, enhances treble with greater detail and sensitivity.
Ultra-Thin 1 μm Diaphragm
FiiO developed a 1 μm PET diaphragm that sets a new standard in the category. Compared to a 2 μm diaphragm, it offers significantly better performance due to faster and more precise transient response — ensuring accurate treble and exceptional dynamics.
28 nm Process Technology
The diaphragm is manufactured using a process inspired by the semiconductor industry: under a vacuum of 6.6×10⁻³ Pa and at 120 °C, ionized particles are deposited onto a 1 μm film to ensure durability and electrical insulation of the circuit.
Zebrawood Grille: A Natural Work of Art
The front grille is made of high-altitude African zebrawood (1,600 m elevation). Its unique grain resembles the stripes of a zebra.
The stripes are aligned with the magnet positions to reduce unwanted sound wave reflections.
Uniform and Powerful Magnetic Field
Thanks to a patented design using rounded-corner magnets, FiiO achieves a uniform magnetic field across the diaphragm, minimizing distortion.
Each driver contains 18 N52 magnets (up to 1.5 Tesla), delivering fast response and tight bass.
Wide Frequency Response & Superior Comfort
The FT7 offers a wide frequency response from 5 Hz to 40 kHz. Despite the large driver, the weight is kept low (427 g) thanks to a carbon fiber chassis — providing both strength and lightness.
Special Cryogenically Treated Cable
The 6N monocrystalline copper cable is cryogenically treated at -192 °C for 7 days.
This reduces internal stress, improves conductivity, and ensures signal purity.
The insulation is made of PFA (dielectric constant: 2.1), which smooths the typically “dry” sound signature of planar drivers, enriching the mids and lows.
