Trilogy Audio Systems is a brilliant British brand of high-fidelity products, founded in 1990 by Nic Poulson, a sound engineer trained at the BBC. His design philosophy is based on the adoption of advanced technical solutions, high-quality materials, and meticulous attention to detail, with the aim of delivering outstanding sonic performance, long-term reliability, and above all, the finest balanced tonality sought by the most discerning music enthusiasts.
All Trilogy products are designed and handcrafted in the UK, using carefully selected components and cutting-edge construction techniques. The company is renowned for its range of hybrid amplifiers (valve and solid-state), preamplifiers, headphone amplifiers, and phono stages, which combine technology driven by results with elegant aesthetic design.
What truly matters with Trilogy is the perfectly balanced, deeply introspective, and musically expressive tonal character. The emotion and atmosphere of live music are conveyed with complete naturalness. If you're a demanding music lover, your search for the ultimate amplifier ends here.
Nic Poulson is the lead designer of all Trilogy Audio Systems products.
Nic began his training in broadcast engineering with the BBC in the 1980s. The legendary and exceptionally high standards of the national broadcaster had a profound impact on him. He learned that achieving true quality means striving for excellence in every aspect and refusing to accept compromise. Nic founded Trilogy in 1990 and quickly gained a reputation for producing equipment that reflected his core values of performance, reliability, pride of responsibility, and value for money.
Some of Nic’s designs can be found in the runway lighting systems of major UK airports, guiding aircraft to a safe landing. His success in the demanding aviation industry further underlines his greatness and versatility as a designer.
After extensive research into the typical weaknesses of most power supplies—and their surprising effects on sound quality—Nic founded Isotek and revolutionised the concept of mains power conditioning. The creative force behind Isol-8 technologies has led to award-winning designs that exhibit none of the issues found in previous generations of power conditioners. His products have made a significant impact in the audio community and are used by discerning customers around the world.
"I firmly believe that producing exceptional products is a blend of knowledge and intuition—or, if you prefer, passion. My passion lies firmly in analogue devices. I have very little interest in digital circuits. I understand what happens inside them, but they evoke no emotion in me."
