The Planar Magnetic operational principle
You can think of planar magnetic drivers as a sort of crossbreed between dynamic and electrostatic drivers. Like a standard dynamic headphone, planar magnetic headphones use the magnetic field around a conductor that has electrical current flowing through it to drive the diaphragm. Like an electrostatic driver, the diaphragm of a planar magnetic speaker is a thin sheet of flexible transparent film, but unlike an electrostat, the film has very thin, flat electrical conductors (wires ... but very flat ones) in it.

Susvara, vivere la musica
Ho comprato queste cuffie ad inizio giugno ma scrivo una recensione solo ora al termine del rodaggio necessario perché questo prodotto esprima tutto il suo potenziale. Da sempre appassionato (forse controtendenza) dall'ascolto della musica in cuffia possiedo tante cuffie di ogni marchio e di ogni prezzo. In casa Hifiman sono approdato circa 5 anni fa acquistando le buonissime hifiman he 1000 v2 sempre qui su Playstereo. Un pochino di tempo fa mi trovavo in visita ad un amico che vive ad Amsterdam. Lui conoscendo la mia passione per le cuffie una mattina mi porta in uno store specializzato dove a buon conto e con del tempo a disposizione uno può sedersi tranquillamente in Salotto ascoltando praticamente tutte le cuffie sul mercato esistenti. Possedendo le hek ovviamente il mio desiderio è andato sulle "sorelle" maggiori, le tanto decantate Susvara. Pilotate da un buon amplificatore (credo fosse un Auralis valvolare se non ricordo male) comincio il test. Sono bastate poche singole note di albums a me noti per rendermi conto della bellezza di queste cuffie. Ero andato molte volte su diversi forum conoscouti ma in quei forum spesso vi sono contraddizioni eclatanti. Chi le giudicava vicine ad un paradiso musicale, chi le giudicava non buone per certi tipi di musica. Il forum aiuta solo in parte (e qualche volta neanche no) l'intenzionato all'acquisto di un prodotto ma la vera risposta te la danno solo i tuoi orecchi come ho avuto modo di appurare. Difatti le Susvara erano passi avanti rispetto alle Hek in mio possesso (e sono già ottime). Tecnicamente superiori per velocità dei transienti ed altro lasciano l'ascoltatore ammaliato per la naturalezza del suono. Mi decido così dopo un pochino di tempo finalmente ad acquistarle qui su Playstereo. Le Susvara sono equilibrate in tutte le frequenze. Dalle basse, le medio basse passando per le medie e gli alti mai invadenti. Hanno suono naturale ma attenzione: Non sono assolutamente fredde o troppo analitiche ma direi un suono coinvolgente, mai affaticante. Se Pilotate da un buon amplificatore esprimeranno al massimo tutta la loro bellezza. Un suono dettagliato in tutte le sue sfaccettature, un soundstage coinvolgente. Ecco la parola chiave è proprio questa: Coinvolgente. Vi porteranno dentro un mondo musicale facendovi non solo ascoltare la musica ma facendovela proprio vivere. Soldi ben spesi.
Un ringraziamento particolare al Dr Ventura e tutto lo staff di Playstereo. Prima dell'acquisto avevo qualche dubbio sulla capacità del mio amplificatore di pilotarle a dovere. Ho un Aurora Sound Heada (venduto sempre da Playstereo). Credevo molto in quell'amplificatore ma qualche dubbio restava. La loro risposta, onesta e competente, mi ha molto rinfrancato e ho proceduto con l'acquisto.
L'amplificatore pilota egregiamente le Susvara dando anche se vogliamo una tonalità leggermente calda alle stesse.
La cuffia definitiva!
Cuffia acquistata ad inizio ottobre (grazie infinite allo staff di Playstereo per la gentilezza, professionalità e correttezza!), ed inizialmente utilizzata con il set-up già in mio possesso (Topping D-90 + A-90), e già così, dopo l' indispensabile periodo di rodaggio (lasciata praticamente una settimana a suonare 24/24, con musica!) era un gran bel sentire.
Seguendo poi i suggerimenti - praticamente unanimi - di tutti i recensori trovati in rete, sono passato ad utilizzarla collegata direttamente ai morsetti dei diffusori di un ampli integrato che avevo nel mio vecchio impianto "casse", un AR-07 "vintage". Infine, volendo "costruire" una catena di riproduzione il più possibile "made in Italy", mi sono buttato sul mercato dell' usato ed ho assemblato questo impianto, che conto essere la soluzione "finale":

Che dire: risultato spettacolare! Ascolto principalmente musica classica (streaming, provider "Idagio"), e ho una grande esperienza pregressa di ascolti dal vivo, sinfonica e cameristica: devo dire che con questa cuffia l' effetto è il più prossimo all' esperienza di ascolto dal vivo che abbia mai avuto, mi riesce veramente difficile pensare di poter migliorare qualcosa.
acquisto sicuramente "impegnativo", ma assolutamente consigliabile!

Pensavo mi piacesse una presentazione con i medi in evidenza (vengo da una abyss diana v2) ma con le susvara ho imparato ad apprezzare una presentazione più naturale. In una parola direi: "oneste". I bassi picchiamo solo quando è previsto dal brano, altrimenti offrono un sottofondo che garantisce profondo realismo. Dopo 100 ore di rodaggio e con un amplificatore appropriato (prima A90 adesso niimbus us5 pro) velocità e naturalezza diventano i suoi punti di forza.
Bisogna ascoltarla
Possiedo queste cuffie da circa un mese, ho superato le 100 ore. Probabilmente non sono ancora sciolte del tutto, ma è sufficiente da poterne parlare. Anche se è difficile descrivere cosa sono...ho posseduto prima per quattro anni delle HE 1000 V1, splendide, ma qui siamo in un altra dimensione. Necessitano di grande potenza e qualità, sia della sorgente che dei watts, dopo di ciò si ascoltano cose come mai prima, almeno per me. Ho passato di tutto nella mia sorgente, Rock, Jazz, Progressive, Classica e persino il Metal. Come tutti i "diffusori" monitor cambiano suono ad ogni disco, evidenziando così una pressoché totale assenza di colorazione, così come una apparentemente assoluta assenza di distorsione. Questo porta ad ascoltare a volumi decisamente improponibili ma senza rendersene conto, merito anche della tenuta in potenza, quasi senza limiti!
Ho comprato tante cuffie e tanti oggetti in questo ottimo sito, ma raramente, forse sbagliando, lascio recensioni, questa volta ho voluto condividere perché non ancora posso credere a quello che sento. Il mio riferimento resta il mio impianto diffusori, ci ho lavorato 19 anni per arrivare al mio suono, e finalmente sono riuscito a spremere al meglio le mie B&W 802 Nautilus, diffusori difficili davanti ai quali molti si sono arresi. Con queste cuffie ho raggiunto lo stesso grado di soddisfazione, e mi sembra semplicemente incredibile! Chiudo indicando il set up che governa questo Mostro: sorgente Yamaha CD - S3000, in via di sostituzione con un Cocktail Audio X45 Pro, integrato Luxman L- 590AXII, cuffie collegate direttamente ai morsetti per diffusori senza alcun partitore, con molta attenzione.
