This very light weight clamp applies controlled pressure to hold the record against the platter mat. Clamp will not mark record labels.Works on all 1200/1210's and any other spindle that measures 0.280". The RC-1200 features an internally threaded device that grabs on to the spindle reliably and as you push the clamp on, the record is held firm to the platter. Additionally, there is a high grip rubber pad on the 3" base and as you rotate the knob, this grippy rubber grabs the label holding everything firm and optimally damped. To remove it you simply pull off. 

In the works for sometime now, the new RC-1200 is finally a reality. The development of this new clamp embodies two concepts. First, a very cool precision insert is machined from Delrin to fit the SL-1200 spindle.

This insert is optimized with regards to contact area and expansion to give just the right "grab" on to the spindle by simply pushing down. Second, the insert is threaded to match the internal threads of the clamping knob.

The base of the clamp has an internal thread that matches the Delrin insert. This allows the clamping knob to ride up and down on that thread. the base of the clamping knob is finished off with a die cut high grip surface.

In use the clamp is pushed on to clamp the record, and then screwed down to lock everything into place and apply top side damping to the label surface. All in a simple one hand operation.

All of this is possible because of the precision of the Technics spindle assembly, I have measured a plethora of spindles over many many years of production and they all measure 0.280"! Just more evidence belying the precision of this turntable.

Knowing that few audiophiles want to get up to their elbows opening up a turntable, KAB is pleased to offer this new clamp design that works on every variant of 1200/1210 out there and requires no dissasembly And keeping in step with the times the price is lower then the previous version too.

Keep in mind that we are clamping on to the existing spindle, so that means there must be some spindle to clamp on to. The stock platter mat is ok and I have also tested an IsoPlat mat with the thin technics mat on top and that works fine as well.

Every hi end turntable needs some kind of disc clamping system. This new design is fast and effective. Push to clamp, screw down to lock into place. Simple, fast and effective.

The heart of the clamp is the custom machined Delrin insert. This precision part and the superb precision of the Technics center spindle mate together perfectly.

The really great features to take note of with the RC-1200 are the marriage of a push on clamp and screw down damping system.

Don't forget to try flipping the super mat over to expose the smooth flat side. I have found that this further reduces platter ringing and has some added sonic benefits as well.

Our customers asked for a threaded design that did not require turntable dissasembly and the new RC1200 is the final result.
